Gigantamax Charizard: Flame Effect

This epic Gigantamax Charizard deserved a massive swirling flame effect.

To make painting easier later (a little laziness intended), I printed the part using orange filament.

Flame Painting Tips

This was my first attempt painting this kind of flame effect.

At first I painted everything red, which made the piece look flat and dull. My later strategy was to:

• Apply a thin base coat of red — one light layer is enough.
• Paint selected areas orange to build contrast.
• Keep the paint on the brush thin so it doesn't look like a heavy coat.

For smooth gradients (red → orange):

Work while the paint is still slightly wet and lightly brush the transition area to create a natural blend. Be gentle to avoid harsh color boundaries.

Highlights (yellow):

Use highlights sparingly — too much looks odd. I only dabbed yellow on a few flame tips, applied lightly.
